The 95,000-square-foot residence hall will be built on top of a 140-stall parking garage. It will be home to 325 students, who will mostly live in two-bedroom units, sharing a bathroom with another unit.
To promote interaction between students, a handful of suites and semi-private living rooms will be located along the building's corridors. Common facilities will include study rooms, a main lounge, exercise room, laundry room and a meditation room. The hall also will have two apartments for resident managers and a guest suite for visiting professors.
Crews are expected to start May 1 with demolition of on-site houses and apartments. The entire project is scheduled to take just over 13 months to finish.
The project team includes: W.G. Clark Construction, general contractor; Mithun, architect; and Lorig Associates, development manager. Design/build subcontractors for mechanical, electrical and plumbing have been preselected.
